ART with a purpose!

A Character/Real Life Lesson Through Art

Formal Art Study

  • Art is more than just creating a pretty picture. Each lesson will focus on an element of art and how it is used by the artist of a classic children's book.
  • Practice using an art medium and style that is similar to what the author chose.
  • Create your own piece using what was learned.

Character/Real Life Lessons

  • Talk about a character trait/life skill from the book and how to deal with the issue in real life while we work.
  • Bible passages and verses will be referenced.

Get a Great Foundation in Art and Character

Every session stands on its own. Attend one session to discuss a specific character issue, or feel free to attend multiple sessions. The student’s character is strengthened by applying the Bible to real life issues, and art skills will grow by examining how each artist we study puts together the elements of art, different media, and style.

Description:

Your student will enjoy Art Lessons using classic, fine arts academic style to learn the Elements of Art such as line, shape, color, value, texture, form, and space using simple and classic media.

In these unique lessons, students will analyze the masterful art of a young children's literature book artist and identify many of the elements of art and how they each might come into play in an illustration, as well as throughout the whole book.  We examine these features throughout a whole set of lessons and learn to pick out and use elements.  Students learn from the genius of young children's artists.

In addition, these lessons use children's literature books and artists to not only help students appreciate classic art skills but also as a springboard for problem-solving and life principles for each lesson.  These young children's books present life issues that apply to every age and life stage into the elder years.

Enrollment:

This class will accept up to 12 students.

The class will still be held if there is 1 student.  That student will practice with the tutor and be fortunate to have the opportunity for private tutoring and coaching.

Your instructor:

The instructor of Biblical Life Skills came to Christ at age 10 and was baptized at age 14, and has a heart for children and teens coming to the Lord at a young age.  She completed an undergraduate degree in Psychology with Minors in Art and Music, as well as a Master's degree in Clinical Psychology. She went on to work as a counselor in various clinics and private practice with children, teens, and families before leaving the field to homeschool her 3 children.  She is now leading a homeschool co-op that has been in existence since 2010.

This instructor loves to help children and teens apply the Bible to every day life, and understand important principles about Scripture.

Students will be challenged to think deeply and commit their lives fully to the only One who is able to fully heal our spirits, souls, minds, and bodies.
