Kathleen studied Elementary Education before getting married and homeschooling her 6 children.  She now has 2 grandchildren.  She is the co-leader of a local homeschool co-op in which she continues to teach Elementary, Middle School, and High School students.  She has taught in Sunday School and Church for over 12 years.  She has been a tutor at Faith, Hope, and Love for the last 5 years.

Kathleen has a love for students of all ages and is an enthusiastic and interesting teacher with a love for hands-on learning.

Description:

Description:

This class will provide a look at some of the major events and characters in the Bible, their strengths, struggles, and relationship to God and how it applies to us.   The goal is to see how the struggles these people had were similar to the ones we have today. 

Teens need to see that the feelings, problems, choices, struggles in the Bible are very much like their own.  Some of these issues are critical to our understanding of faith, our understanding of God, and our understanding of ourselves.  Take a grand tour of some of the main topics and characters from a fresh, relevant perspective that helps teens relate.

Along the way, we will take some deep dives into a passage or two each week to address important principles to guide our lives, heal our emotions, help us make decisions, and restore our relationships.  These points are very relevant for 2024-2025, and in fact, many are needed for our very survival in this society.  Don't miss out.

Instructor:

The instructor of Biblical Life Skills came to Christ at age 10 and was baptized at age 14, and has a heart for children and teens coming to the Lord at a young age.  She completed an undergraduate degree in Psychology with Minors in Art and Music.  She then went on to complete a Master's degree in Psychology and work as a counselor in clinics and private practice in various settings, before leaving the field to homeschool her 3 children.  She is now leading a homeschool co-op that has been in existence since 2010.  

This instructor loves to help children and teens apply the Bible to every day life, and understand important principles about Scripture.  She loves to challenge them to think deeply and commit their lives fully to the only One who is the healer of our spirits, souls, minds, and bodies.

Description:

This class is a survey of world history, geography, religions, and cultures around the globe from ancient times to the present.  The goal will be to gain an overall understanding of important major historical, geographical, and cultural events and information, to employ critical thinking skills, and think Biblically about religions throughout history.

We will be discussing events from a Christian perspective and compare and contrast other world religions to Christianity.  Reading from the textbook, mapwork, and other work as appropriate will be assigned at each session, due the following session.  

This course covers a good deal of material and is designed to be modified or expanded to suit a variety of students.  As such, it is acceptable for a wide range of grade levels.  Please inform the instructor of the writing, and reading level of your student.  We will work with you as the homeschool parent to determine what the appropriate expectations will be for your student; whether it would be beneficial to simplify reading/writing requirements, or to require all reading and perhaps add writing assignments, etc, for older students.

Class meets every other Thursday, with the off weeks used for reading, mapwork, and completing student work.  We plan to have an intriguing look at world events, geography, and world religions.

In this course, students will get a basic grasp of the Spanish alphabet, basic words, common expressions, parts of speech, sentence structure, making comparisons, asking questions, pronunciation, topic-based vocabulary, and more.  The main goal is to provide an introduction and a place to practice speaking with others.

This class could be used to augment another course in Spanish with the opportunity to converse, and learn how to handle meeting people using different versions of the Spanish language.

The instructor for this course was born in Puerto Rico and is a native speaker of Spanish.  She will not only teach your child the basics of Spanish but provide information on the contrasts where Puerto Rican Spanish is the same or different than other versions of Spanish, such as Mexican.  The instructor is a loving mother of 2 children that she has at home, watching over their schooling with diligence.  She loves Jesus and would be so happy to provide an opportunity for your student to have conversations in Spanish!

Description:

Your student will enjoy Art Lessons using classic, fine arts academic style to learn the Elements of Art such as line, shape, color, value, texture, form, and space using simple and classic media.  

In these unique lessons, students will analyze the masterful art of a young children's literature book artist and identify many of the elements of art and how they each might come into play in an illustration, as well as throughout the whole book.  We examine these features throughout a whole set of lessons and learn to pick out and use elements.  Students learn from the genius of young children's artists.

In addition, these lessons use children's literature books and artists to not only help students appreciate classic art skills but also as a springboard for problem-solving and life principles for each lesson.  These young children's books present life issues that apply to every age and life stage into the elder years.
